The very first iteration of Ronald McDonald is seen in early Mcdonalds commercial from the 1960s. McDonalds is just as known for its marketing as it is its burgers. This character was actually created by comedian Willard Scott. Ray Kroc thought that advertising to a specific market like children would in turn create lots of income. Happy meals and Ronald McDonald are all examples of this innovative marketing. Almost every fast food chain today provides toys with their foods and it is because of the novel ideas Ray had towards advertising. While now early Ronald McDonald looks pretty terrifying it shows the companies marketing techniques towards children.
